Fun activities the whole family can enjoy…
Planning your next vacation again? Want to know where to take your family for fun times galore in our special valley?
McGregor caters for all ages. Here are a couple of things that you can enjoy with your children, from kiddie friendly wine estates to meeting and petting donkeys:
For the whole family
Both McGregor and Lord’s wineries have play areas for kids to keep them entertained whilst you taste award winning wines.
To quench your kiddies thirst, why not take them for a milkshake at either How Bazaar or Sistars Home Baked or an ice-cream from McGregor Ice.
Donkey hugs and loves!
Why not give your children an experience of a life time and take them to meet the donkeys at the Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary.
Approximately 3km outside of McGregor on the Robertson Road, you will find this safe haven for mistreated donkeys. Enjoy a wonderful lunch followed by a guided tour of the donkeys, where you learn their names and history and can even pet them.
Why not give your kids a chance to spend their pocket money at our Saturday Morning Market, which takes place at the NG Church grounds every Saturday from 9am –
10am. There are plenty of homemade goodies for them to treat themselves.
If you are feeling energetic you can hire mountain bikes from the tourism office.
You have a choice of hiring them per hour, half day or full day. McGregor is well known for its beautiful hiking trails.
Make a day of it…
Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve has a 3km trail that leads over flat terrain, past two dams and bird hides. Why not make a day of it and take a picnic or braai goodies.
The Noddy Bus!
If you are wanting to explore McGregor at a more leisurely pace, you can hire the Noddy Bus and have a guided tour in a uniquely built wooden bus.
For something totally different, visit Rhebokskraal Olive Estate.
Here you will enjoy a guided tour around the farm, olive tasting and a platter of olive products under the old Oak Tree. Kiddies will be treated to painting and clay modelling lessons, by artist Anneline van der Colf.
