First, apologies for the late arrival of this newsletter, which was intended for distribution during the third quarter of 2011, but is now going out in the last, as the year races to a close. In this newsletter you will find news of our work on the restoration of old houses in McGregor, what is happening in terms of the Krans Nature Reserve, our engagement with the youth of McGregor and the Museum.

The recent talk by Helen Moffett was greatly enjoyed by those who attended, but the turnout was small. Our next – and final – event for the year is an excursion to De Doorns where we will board the Hex River Eco-Pass Express for another fascinating trip up the
It is proving to be an eventful year for the Heritage Society, one in which we have welcomed new members and new committee members while saying farewell to others. At present we do not have a permanent chairperson, as no one volunteered for the position after Tony Saddington stepped down as chairman at the AGM. Some committee members are taking turns to chair meetings and deal with correspondence and other matters on a monthly basis at present, but we hope to find a chairperson in the new year.
Thanks to the efforts of Atholl Hay and Tony Saddington, the Heritage Society’s application for NPO status has been sent to the NPO directorate. We now await an NPO number and, judging from his previous experience in this regard, Atholl says we may be given this early next year.
As always, we thank all our members for their support, their generosity when it comes to help with catering and other issues, for donations, for expertise in various fields, and for attendance at events. We also owe the
