McGregor Food and Wine

Step into spring at McGregor’s 2011 Food and Wine Festival
It’s been described as the most fun, the most affordable and the least pretentious of any food and wine fest. Diarise Saturday August 27, when the winemakers of local cellars present their valley wines and village restaurateurs, chefs and caterers tempt with fare that ranges from rustic to topnotch, from trad to trendy.
From modest beginnings our wineries have blossomed into a diverse and popular group, from garagiste through boutique to co-operative, making fruity whites, irresistible rosé, robust reds, beautiful blends, warming soetes and even an organic bubbly. Along with new vintages, most cellars will offer discounts on purchases. Gastronomic finger food from wraps and pita to bruschettas and sushi will complement in style.
The restaurant choice in McGregor keeps expanding, and these venues will be creating special festival weekend menus. Other attractions include a trail run and live entertainment, restaurants all in the setting of one of the Cape’s most tranquil and appealing historic villages.
Weekend guests are advised to book overnight accommodation soon – you will take home bootloads of wine bargains and indelible memories of country hospitality at its finest.
