New visitors always ask, “What is there to do in McGregor?” – Caught by surprise, the locals will look a bit confused and after a while say “Enjoy the quiet, that’s why we love it!”
The truth is, the whole of the Breede River valley has many places to visit, but if it’s relaxation, good living, food and wine you are after, McGregor is the perfect place to forget city cares, change gear, just live, enjoy and connect with friends.
McGregor offers a variety of activities for the visitor to explore, from walking/hiking trails, the most spectacular being the Boesmanskloof trail from McGregor to Greyton, mountain biking, bird watching at hides in Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, to enjoyable meals and a chat at one of our coffee shops or restaurants. There is the Donkey Sanctuary to enjoy too!
The village has a quaint Saturday Morning Market where you may purchase a wide variety of home made jams, chutneys, fresh organic vegetables, as well as many other products.
There is olive tasting at Rhebokskraal Olive Estate and many places to enjoy a good meal. You must visit our local wood fired pottery. Or why not book with one of the many therapists? Enjoy nature with wonderful birdlife… even whilst walking around the village to enjoy the architecture and gardens old and new.
