The McGregor Waldorf school and McGregor College educate 145 learners from various cultural, language and social-economic backgrounds with homes in McGregor Village, Nkqubela (Robertson) and Zolani (Ashton). Some 20 learners from Cape Town, Johannesburg and overseas stay in the hostel.
Both schools offer English Medium education in a warm and supportive environment with teachers who are committed to guide children in their journey towards realizing their own inborn potential and to develop into free, responsible human beings. They endeavor to foster resilience in each child and a spirit of valuing all people’s culture, beliefs and work.
An education that addresses the head (academic), the heart (visual and dramatic arts) and the hands (handwork, technology)is offered at the kindergarten and the McGregor Waldorf primary school (Grade 1 to Grade 7). Here a full Waldorf curriculum inspired by the principles of Rudolf Steiner is followed.
The McGregor College (Grade 8 to Grade 12)continues the quest to prepare young people for life by bringing about a mobile inner life and a discovery of self. While Mathematics, Language and Computer skills are essential for further study and building a working life , Visual and Dramatic Arts enhance personal and inter-personal growth while Life Orientation develops social skills and much needed awareness. From Grade 10 the students are preparing themselves to write the NSC exams at the end of Grade 12.
Since 2008 the school had a 100% matric pass rate.
